Regulatory Information

I provide unreserved legal consultancy services. I do not hold a practising certificate and I am not practising as a barrister. My work is not regulated by the Bar Standards Board or the Solicitors Regulation Authority, and you cannot take a complaint about it to the Legal Ombudsman.

I do not carry out reserved legal activities, which include conducting litigation and appearing in court. Gill Business Law is not a law firm.

Communications with me may not attract legal advice privilege in the way communications with a practising solicitor or barrister would. If privilege matters for a piece of work, tell me before we start and I will recommend how to structure it, which may mean instructing a regulated firm.

The pages and articles on this website are general information. They are not advice on your situation. Reading them, or contacting me, does not make me your legal adviser. That only happens when we both sign an engagement letter.

Privacy

This notice explains what happens to personal information you give me through this website.

What I Collect

If you use the contact form or email me, I receive your name, your email address, your company name if you give it, and what you write. The company that hosts this website keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security.

Why I Use It

To reply to your enquiry and, if you want to instruct me, to take the steps needed before we agree an engagement. I don’t use it for marketing and I don’t sell it.

Who Else Sees It

My website host and email provider process it on my behalf. I don’t share it with anyone else unless the law requires me to.

How Long I Keep It

Enquiries that don’t lead to an engagement are deleted within twelve (12) months. If you instruct me, your information is kept for as long as the engagement letter says.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the information I hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how I use it. Email me to ask. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.

Cookies

This website does not use analytics or advertising cookies. WordPress sets cookies only for people who log in to manage the site.

Using This Website

You may link to any page and quote short extracts from articles, with credit. Please ask before republishing a whole article.
